Aquaculture
Enscape provides a range of services within the aquaculture sector, including research, providing socioeconomic and environmental impact assessments, as well as how to improve efficiency and deliver sustainable outcomes.
Our work in recent years has involved supporting clients such as the Scottish Government, Marine Scotland, Zero Waste Scotland, the Crown Estate and the private sector in areas such as seaweed farming, fish farming and capture fishing.
Enscape's economic feasibility study on seaweed farming, for Crown Estate Scotland, provides a number of scenarios on different scales of operation, the products required and market opportunities, indicating what is needed to establish successful projects (the report is available here).
Our socio-economic impact study for Cooke Aquaculture (provided here) was informed by one-to-one interviews with the supply chain and many individuals across the Orkney islands, describing the positive economic value generated, the livelihoods sustained - describing the benefits that fish farming can bring to many communities.
More information on specific projects can be found on our News page.
